Chambers Group is pleased to announce that it was chosen to receive the EBJ award for Business Achievement – Gold Medal – for mid-size companies.
“In what is widely regarded as a stable market, a number of companies exceeded the norms of low single-digit growth with double-digit growth,” said Grant Ferrier, president of Environmental Business International Inc. (EBI, San Diego), publisher of Environmental Business Journal.
Chambers Group was recognized for repackaging its core services to concentrate on offering them to the energy (traditional and renewable), mining, and transportation sectors, which were growing. Chambers Group Receives Third Diversity Award
SANTA ANA, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2011) – Chambers Group announced today that it has been honored with its third Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award, this time, from the Orange County Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS-OC). Chambers Group program manager Gene Anderson was in attendance to accept the award at the WTS-OC Awards and Scholarship Gala held at the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel on Dec. 6.
Being a three-time winner of the Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award truly reflects Chambers Group’s commitment to providing transportation-related career opportunities to qualified women and minority professionals.
“Chambers Group really deserves this award,” said Mr. Anderson. “If anyone were to walk into any of Chambers Group’s offices, you would actually see how diverse, with gender and culture, this company really is.”
Chambers Group was recognized for continually advancing women in transportation through its professional development opportunities, hand-on training, mentorship and strategic positioning of women in roles traditionally held by men. Many of the company’s female employees work at project sites, specifically at transportation construction sites, in key positions which were formerly not readily available to women. These women manage superintendents, construction crews, foremen and complex construction schedules. The level of diversity at Chambers Group enhances workplace culture and creative thinking.
Chambers Group has been a national member of WTS for five years. The firm received the diversity award earlier this year with the San Diego chapter and in 2010 with the Inland Empire chapter.

Chambers Group Begins Environmental Process for Devil's Gate Dam and Reservoir, Pasadena
SANTA ANA, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2011) – The 2009 Station Fire was the largest fire in recorded history of the Angeles National Forest (est. 1892) and the 10th largest fire in California since 1933. It burned over 160,000 acres in the San Gabriel Mountains above the Devil's Gate Dam and Reservoir. The storms that occurred in the wet seasons after the fire caused an inflow of over one million cubic yards of sediment into the reservoir diminishing its capacity and function. The loss of flood control capacity in the reservoir results in a flooding risk to the downstream area along the Arroyo Seco. This presents a public safety issue that needs to be addressed.
In March 2011, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors directed the Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD) to complete an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to assess the impacts associated with removing sediment from the reservoir. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW), on behalf of the LACFCD, retained Chambers Group to prepare an EIR to assess the impacts associated with this critical sediment removal project. Chambers Group will manage the preparation of the EIR and all of the associated technical studies to ensure all potential environmental impacts are disclosed and analyzed. LACDPW has also tasked Chambers Group to encourage public involvement with the surrounding communities of Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Altadena, and project stakeholders to ensure that the EIR process is transparent while addressing community and stakeholder concerns.
