Mining Projects

NEPA Environmental Documents,
(Yerington Anaconda Copper Mine, Nevada
)

As a precursor to the preparation of NEPA environmental documents, Chambers Group completed several aspects of Due Diligence for the Yerington Anaconda Copper Mine including a detailed site condition report, CERCLA Phase I ESA report, water rights documentation, and extensive technical support for extended acquisition and planning activities. The mine site is a 3400-acre site with extensive and complex environmental and contamination issues resulting form over 50 years of operation under multiple owners. The operation included open pitcopper mining and several procession operations.

Biological and Cultural Resources Surveys, Summit Minerals Exploration Project,
(Victoria Resources US Inc.)

Chambers Group conducted a cultural resources inventory, biological resources survey, habitat assessment and preliminary jurisdictional delineation on a proposed exploration parcel consisting of 944 acres (“Block Survey”) in the Shoshone Mountains of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest near Grantsville, Nye County, Nevada. Chambers Group biologists conducted a preliminary jurisdictional delineation to identify potential USACE jurisdictional areas pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. Victoria Resources is now planning its exploratory activities as a result.

Cultural Resource Class III Survey
(Isabella Mine for HB Engineering Group., sub to Telesto Nevada Inc.)

Cultural Resources Class III Survey of 545 acres at the Isabella Mine, in Mineral County, Nevada. The project is a small open pit mine including pit, waste rock, leach pad, access road, processing and office buildings, transmission and pipe line, and associated facilities. The location is between Gabbs and Luning on the south side of the Gabbs Valley Range. Cultural Resources Surveys,
(Barrick Dee Mine in Elko, Nevada
)

Barrick Gold needed cultural resources work done in support of permitting exploration to expand operations at the Dee Mine on lands managed by BLM near Elko Nevada. The project was a multi-phase cultural compliance contract extended over one year. The final phase involved the development of a data recovery plan (excavation) of a previously determined significant sites. Upon approval by the BLM, the plan outlines a strategy for the most effective means of understanding the life ways and subsistence patterns of the prehistoric inhabitants of that region.
